I guess the guy from Nissan who didn't use nylocks on the butterfly valve found a new job.

Scary such a small thing can have big ramifications.

Why don't they just replace the "optimized fasteners" and may be some other parts surrounding the fasteners ?

Might be faster (and hence cheaper) to just pull the entire motor.
