Cranky 2 stroke diesel cold start...

Since its March and some idiots, I mean die hard's are splashing:


I like this motor, its like a cranky tired 16V71TI without a heater! The throat clearing and cough is impressive! Everyone on the dock will hate you!

Watching the video I want to yell bring up the R's get the cylinders to catch!

Actually, when I was a young engineer, first year out of university, I was doing performance testing on 25MW G.E. and derivative gas turbines.

The "starter motor" was a 12V-71 IIRC, sitting there pre-warmed.

Press starts, and the air starter would get the V-12 to run.

V-12 gave a few good revs, then the controls filled the fluid coupling between the V-12 and the Turbine, and set the V-12 at full noise while the turbine got dragged to 1100RPM, when it was self sustaining.
