IOLM < 5%. Makeup oil 1.3 quarts. Filter is Motorcraft FL-500

Polaris flagged TBN as low by their standards. Looking at wear metals, I don't see any issues. This engine is doing an outstanding job in this application. The longer I own this truck the better I like it.

Looks great! Is this the syn blend?

Glad you like the 5.0.....they make me drool everytime I hear one.

Yes, it is Syn Blend. And yes, the 5.0 rips. Even with a 3.55 rear end. Nothing sounds like an American V-8.

No, I don't consider the truck as 'using oil'. As soon as I'm down about .3 quarts I dump in the leftover from the 7.7 quart fill. At some point - around 7k miles - I'm down a quart and then I can add add a quart and get some fresh additives. I feel the extra additives are bound to be beneficial in extending the life of the oil.

If I was on a 6,000 mile drain I wouldn't add oil beyond the .3 quart. However, a 6000 mile drain over 100,000 miles would use 128 quarts of oil - 133 if you dump in the .3. On the other hand, changing at 10,000 and adding a quart each time would use 87 quarts.

When you're looking at a 10,000 mile drain interval you have to change your thinking.

Thanks for posting! I've been curious about this oil and will be running it for my next to OCIs, I should do a UOA on at least one of the fills at the end just to add more info about it here.

Amounts to 3/4 of a quart every 5k, quite respectable. I've got Amsoil in and cannot see any change on the dipstick after more than 6000 miles.

I just changed the oil again this afternoon. When the sample is processed I'll post it.

The add oil is completely consistent between each drain.

Excellent showing for the lube and engine.
Wear rates are admirably low.
Low contaiminants.
Consumption is low considering the total distance.

No reason not to stay the course. After warranty is done, perhaps extend if you have the interest.

Think about this for a moment ...
360hp and 380ft-lb from a 300ci engine, with wear this low and reasonable fuel economy, that has an EASY shot at a minimum 250k miles of life (probabaly more).
Don't tell me today's machines and lubricants are not better than yesteryear!
