Hey all,

I cut open the D3441 from the Audi's last oil change. It was on the car for ~7500 miles. Other than this being my first used filter dissection, this was pretty uneventful. The filter is built like a tank, ever component had some serious heft and oozed quality. The pleats were even and there were no tears or waviness. The can was pretty thick, measuring in at 1.2 mm. The silicon ADBV was nice and flexible. Take a look.

How'd you cut it open - hacksaw? First time I've seen the thick base plate separated from the base plate piece that holds the sealing gasket. Filter looks good

I cut it open using my Milwaukee M12 Hackzall with a metal blade. I cut it right at the crimp lip to avoid metal fragment contamination, so it required just a tad bit of prying with a flathead screwdriver which resulted in the separation of the baseplate. They weren't separated prior to that.
