I would run 10w30 which is what kohler recommends. Briggs recommends 5w30 synthetic. I have a kohler and ran rotella 10w30 for 20 hours.....came out black and thick.
I now run Amsoil Small Engine Oil which is designed for small engines. Comes out looking a lot better than the rotella I was using.

If I was using rotella again I'd use the 5w40 full synthetic

You have to know what the proper viscosity is if you want to care for the engine correctly. Somewhere in the OM it says what the proper viscosity is. Did it come with a separate engine manual? Call the place you bought it from and ask them. Then talk what brand.

Great idea. Rotella and small engines go together just fine.

You don't have to spend big bucks for good protection.

MY 20 HP 2 cyl Bridges in my John Deere calls for a 10w30 oil and change it every 50 hours with the oil filter after the first change at 5 hours. I run PP 10w30.

Thanks to all. Ill finger it out tomorrow while im at autozone. They didnt have the manual as it was a "demo". Idk how you lose a manual to a tractor that is still on the sales floor.
