Pep Boys

I got the flier this morning, what I found interesting, and stupid for anyone who knows oil is this:

PU 5 qts. and a Fram Extra Guard filter $19.21

or

Castrol GTX Conventional 5 qts. and a Fram Extra Guard filter $19.21

Great deal for PU. What were they thinking with the GTX?

Two days only 2/22 and 2/23.

Maybe they are trying to clear out the old Ultra. Just a guess. That is rather odd for the conventional change to be the same price as the premium syn change.

I saw this too. The 5W-20 Ultra in San Carlos, CA is still SM.

Maybe they are clearing old stock. After reading the fine print you can also get Platinum with the same filter for the same price. I might check it out 2/22 I won't be far from a PB on that day.

I got the flyer yesterday, and thought you'd have to be quite the Castrol fanboy to take that over the Ultra....

Obviously not that their customers are members/readers of Bitog. Recently, I said something similar about the current AAP Havoline DS Syn vs GTX oil/filter promo.

Is that it? It's a confusing ad. PP and PU are still the same price though.

+1. Just had their commercial on DIY network. The conventional price is "if the boys do it for 'ya."

The pep boys in my area is offering PU or platinum at that price. All the PU they had in stock was SM GF4 oil, which is ok with me because Kia recommends GF 4 or better.

You be suprised what older car people/ general public think of castrol GTX.

my gf's dad has been working on cars and motorcyles for over 3 decades, he will use castrol GTX in everything. If you asked him if it was synthetic, he would say yes and its as good as mobil1.

They made a name for themselves long time ago, and people who dont bother even googling wouldnt know any better.

I think the Castrol deal is also for the duration of the sale dates indicated on the mailer, which is the 16-23rd I believe. The Ultra/Platinum deal is just the 22nd and 23rd.

These oil and filter deals kill me. I have way too many filters!

Will the Ultra Euro 5w40 be included in the special?

Otherwise I have my eye on the Castrol 0w30 or 0w40 which I am yet to try in my Mercedes.

There's also a coupon online for a $19.21 Conventional Oil Change.

$19.21 Pep Boys Conventional Oil Change

Good through 3/2 - it sounds like this is the same deal as the GTX oil change. (I haven't seen the flyer - the closest Pepboys is 40 minutes away so looks like I'll miss this one. frown
