Here is an interesting article on cetane values and diesel additives made as a response to a magazine article. I present this only for what it is worth to the reader and have vested interest in the company that wrote it.

There are certainly many unknowns with diesel fuel. Does it have the needed amount of lubricant additive. And in the winter how much kerosene is mixed in.

The kerosene added only reduces mileage, but not enough lubricant could cause issues for mechanical injector pumps.

As to point seven, Amsoil makes a cold flow improver and a diesel injector clean and diesel recovery so I'd say they are apt to comment...

It's a [censored] good link though! The author seems to get pretty emotional rather than just presenting a case based on facts... Would be better without the 'offense taken'-type tone.
