Just got a letter in the mail ford will be extending the warranty on my throttle body to 10 years or 150000 miles kinda gives ya a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that they recognize a problem and are willing to stand behind it

Does this also apply to the 2011 Fusion with the same engine? I need to check my mail... I've never noticed a problem with ours though.

Honestly the only Kudos I give Ford is not taking any Bail Out money from the Feds. THAT earned my respect.

Yeah.
I'd be more impressed if they would have stood behind there [censored] camshaft synchronizers. Oh well, court exists for a reason.

I'll tell my Fusii owning friends to be on the lookout.

I wish that mis-information would stop being passed around...
they only reason they didn't take "bail out" Money, is becasue they had just taken a multi billion dollar loan handout from the feds the month before. and they were/are among the LAST to pay the fed back. IIRC by the time GM had paid back their bail out loans, ford had yet to pay back anything from their loan.
will search for supporting documentation, and post back.

It is great that did that, lots of companies do stuff like that. GM, Toyota, Honda.
I do think most companies look at the cost and decide what they will extend.

What's wrong with the throttle body to begin with? You left that part out of the story.

Well maybe Ford then had better "timing" in borrowing money than the others. Its all public perception. Regardless what the truth may be.

At least Ford is still owned by Americans. Cant say that about GM, or Chrysler these days.

Every one of those articles says Ford didn't take bail out money. The last one speculated we would lose $20 Billion when the gov't sold off their stock in GM.

Can you find anything that actually supports your contention? If you do you'll be the first.

^ Ford took a 9.5 billion dollar loan in 09 for hybrid vehicle research. Government money is all the same.

I fail to see your point.

Also the government lost at least 10 billion on GM it is probable more than what was reported. But what is done is done.

I am more interested in seeing if GM will survive another 20 years.

Also a 5.9 billion dollar loan is quite different than a bailout and after the loan is repaid it is very different.

I believe your figures are close to 100% over what was borrowed.

Ford seems to have the highest USA ownership.

Does this really mean anything now a days? Yes. and No. Yes because these companies helped build America with American ingenuity. What is considered "American" these days anyway? mmmmmm You have a Nissan Titan built here in the USA, while your Dodge, or Chevy is built in Canada?

Though this applies to most manufacturers these days, and well stores too. Imagine if Sam Walton was still alive??? Seeing all his stores stuffed with Chinese made goods?? He would roll over in his grave.

Sad, but sign of the times...

To that point, our founding fathers would be ashamed to see that the good ol' USA owes it debt to a communist country (China).

Oh I worry for this Great Country of Ours.

What?

Ford mortgaged the farm prior to the financial collapse. Took out BILLIONS in loans (PRIVATE loans) and even had the actual Ford logo up for collateral. They were not part of the bail-out in any way, shape or form.

What they DID do is, LIKE MANY OTHER MANUFACTURERS take advantage of the "Green Technology" loans that the government was giving out for the development of battery and hybrid vehicles.

THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAILOUT!!!

And yes, they have not paid it back yet. But they are making their required payments, on-time, and on schedule. Nobody got screwed over through a sham bankruptcy, the tax payers aren't out billions of dollars....etc

I'm not even sure how you've managed to draw the parallels between these loans, that even the Japanese marques took advantage of, and the bailout

Sounds like a pretty biased stance chalked full of agenda to me.

No, it isn't all the same. One was a bail out; the other wasn't.
