Was looking through my oil reports, found one that I hadn't posted yet.

Background: Picked up this Grand Cherokee cheap last year. Owner had gotten it from their grandparents and didn't know any service history. Thought I'd do a short run and do an UOA for any obvious warning signs. It sees short trips (5 miles, 2 miles on highway) but does go on long highway trips regularly. Here's the results...

Since then, I've got it on 10w-30 Rotella T5 with a Bosch D+ filter and only about 4K miles in the past 12 months. I'm debating changing it out, sending that for a UOA and adjusting as necessary, letting this run or possibly changing the oil and keeping the filter for another 4-5K run. Thoughts?

We started using Chevron Supreme 10W-30 in a new Ford 801 tractor in 1962 and ran that brand for about 20 years in it with good results. Bet it was a bit different formula 52 years ago.

The Ford dealer did not know if it was OK to run a high detergent oil or not I remember. The jobber brought it out when he brought gas. It was finally great to have a year round motor oil.
