Driven all year round. I drive ez when the oil is cold enough to overpressure my 100psi gauge sending unit. I drive very little but I do use a lot of E85 during the summer time and 87 octane with a quart of acetone each 25 gallons of gas. I change the ol since around a year is enough. Oil sees a lot of heat in the summer and a pounding now and then on the streets.12 years on the engine but only 60k on the odometer.

It's been a while since we last saw a sample from your 2002 F-150, and it looks like this engine has developed some excess wear at steel parts (iron). You tracked your oil run in miles for the last sample, so we're not sure how the 1-year interval here compares, but wear metals are higher. If this oil saw around 10,000 miles, then this much iron is fine. If this was a ~2,000-mile interval like before, then the iron is a little worrisome. 1.0% fuel isn't a problem, and no coolant was found. The TBN was good at 3.7. Change this oil out and check back in a similar interval.

This is a one year and 5K OCI? Aluminum, copper, and iron all seem to be a little high for the mileage on the oil. What benefit is the acetone supposed to provide?

I run E85 thru the summer months for added power. I add acetone to 87 octane for the same purpose. It allows the surface tension of the gas to relax and provide more power out of the fuel and I get better mileage over the E85. As far as the metal it may be due to the alcohol. I intend on doing a rebuild some day.

Metals are higher than we are used to seeing in easy wearing 5.4s, but you are no where near a rebuild, you will be able to get hundreds of thousands of miles with that kind of wear.

Do you have a tuner on the truck to allow you to use E85? IIRC, it shouldn't be an FFV.....

Plans for more horsepower and using the new FRPP improved block.

SCT TS been doing my own tunes since getting a tuner. Used to work at Holley carb as a tuner/tech. It is not a FFV but that did not stop me.

In a 2002 F-150?

Whole new ball game compared to the race/street cars I have had.

IIRC it is the XL series oil. I tried the signature and wasn't happy with the pressures I saw.
