Whats really strange is the oil I used (Castrol Syntec Edge 5W40) had a strange GREEN coolant color to it. Then when I bought the EXACT same oil 8 months later, the GREEN color was not there (it looked like normal oil).
The UOA was done on the coolant-colored oil.
Any know why the 2 identical oils looked drastically different?
Code:
MAKE/MODEL: BMW 2.5L (M54) Inline 6-Cylinder OIL TYPE & GRADE: Castrol Syntec 5W/40
FUEL TYPE: Gasoline (Unleaded) OIL USE INTERVAL: 9,082 Miles
When comparing this sample to universal averages, which show typical wear for this type of
engine after about 6,500 miles, we can see that most metals read fairly close after a longer oil run. Copper
was the odd ball, showing some wear at brass/bronze parts like bushings and bearings. At this point, we're
not ready to make any hard and fast calls since we aren't sure which direction it's headed. If it improves by a
couple ppm, it'll be in the green, so we'll see where it goes next time. Physically, the oil held up well & oil
