Cut open 5star suburu filter

Vehicle 2005 suburu outback 2.5 nonturbo.
It has a new/rebuilt engine and this is the 1st change on new engine.
Filter labeled (5 star oil filter for legacy, impreza and forester. part num 15208AA060.
I ran it 5k miles. Not much to see, everything looked good. ADV though seemed flimsy compared to the M1 I just opened but was intact.

Doesnt looklike the fram-tastic ones they used to sell. Where did you get this? Ocean, SINGER, NASHUA?

I bought the vehicle in Keene volkswagen, NH.

Nothing concerning to see anyway, I'd have no idea what the efficiency on a 5Star would be though.

Looks like an uneventful 5k miles of break-in on a rebuild. Couldn't ask for more than that.

Sideline question: why does a 2005 Subaru need a new engine?

Curious myself on the rebuild - I though 2005 was past the HG issues though the EJ also had some cyl head valve guide improperly machined and they are big oil burners - my 2009 forester was in that batch and got traded for the 2011 in my sig.

Not sure..I did have a mechanic verify for me when I bought it that it was a rebuilt engine. ..
Judging from the tranny fluid I changed the owner was not big on servicing.
