I don't think they did, given how low it was with this oil too. I think there's an issue that is causing rapid TBN depletion.

I don't think you looked too hard....

Castrol is the other big user of Na. I believe it's in Mobil conventional too.

I don't know, my UOA on Petro-Canada was only 3500 miles and came back with a TBN of only 1.5. I think maybe it is just a result of an engine that's a bit hard on oil and a small sump.

You have the same engine? If so, guess we know what engine certainly is NOT a candidate for extended drains eh? LOL!

I recently did about 7K miles on M1 0w-40. I still had a TBN of 7, LOL!

As far as I know the '05 Malibu and '06 G6 are both the LX9.

To your point about the M1 0w40, I have 3 runs on the blend ranging from 5300 - 6600 miles that had TBN of 4.5-6. That's with only 40% M1!

As a side note, I'm considering running straight 0w40 this year in both cars when I change them in the spring. Just to see what I get.

I had been so focused on our discussions about the high iron that I forgot to ask - what do you think about the Lubricheck results for this oil (Lubricheck showed 8/10)?

I'd recommend PYB for short 3k run like others have mentioned. How long time wise is the oci? Does the car see a lot of idling? Esp in the morning warming up.

I would like to see more comparisons. I'm kind of surprised you wouldn't get a 10 or a warn on this one though. Based solely on the TBN though it looks about right if you want to change at 8 or 9. What is their recommendation for a change?

I received a Lubricheck for xmas and it does seem to be accurate with where I believe they are. I am using it to to check my cars about every 1000 miles to extend oil changes.
