Had a few pints of this with my uncle and brother while back at Mum's place the other week...very nice beer on tap, and not bad from the bottle.

JHZR2's comment on the prison island in OVERKILL's post, got me thinking to post, as my son had to do a grade 3 history assignment on a successful convict, and chose James Squire...

thus the 150 lashes name...my son's research also indicated that he was commissioned to make beer on the sly for the governor as well...missing out on the second 150...

Great marketing..average beer, owned by a New Zealand brewery. I'll drink it on tap at the pub when it's the best thing on offer, it's nice on a hot day. James Squire Brew Pubs make some very decent ales though. Thanks for the history lesson.
