Is Quaker State "fully synthetic" any good?

I agree 100% ^^^^^

I disagree. It could be some of Shell's "super" group III basestocks. http://www.epc.shell.com/Docs/GPCDOC_X_cbe_24855_key_140006587314_201112051450.pdf

Your right, it could be that (most likely is I suppose) At any rate, definitely a good oil.

Really, as long as it says full synthetic on the bottle, doesn't sludge the engine and provides good UOA, I'm happy with it.

It says full synthetic on the bottle, I wouldn't consider "technically, because it has group III oils," a valid argument. Sure, I know nothing about group III oil's I'm ignorant there, but the bottle says full synthetic, I'm sure its a full synthetic.

Basically, run this full synthetic Quaker State UD with a dino oil, and I'm sure you would get synthetic oil results with the UD and not so good with the dino as far as sludge, UOA and fuel economy comparions.

Do not worry about it at all. This is a very high quality product and at everyday prices of around 21 bucks for 5 quarts it is the best "value" in off the shelf synthetic's today. IMHO of course.

Could be indeed. But I am guessing it would be no more economically viable for them to use Shell's super III than a PAO.

Look at the Noack of the 5-20. 5%?????? You are kidding right???

Mobil 1 was not on sale this week so I bought QSUD for the first time. This is for my Mazda 6. Supposed to be 10 below tomorrow so I'll see how the engine starts up.

QSUD has good cold specs.
If your car won't start, the oil won't be the cause.
QSUD~=M1.

Are we talking about this oil:
http://www.quakerstate.com/#/motor-oil/ultimate-durability

And are you saying Quaker State UD Full Synthetic is not actually fully synthetic?

Yes and Yes.

It is not synthetic in the same way that AMSoil or Royal Purple are. QS has group III oils in it, the other ones have fully synthetic, higher group oils in them. Most all commercial oils sold in stores are this way - Pennzoil, Mobil, QS, Havoline, Valvoline, Castrol... they are all Group III synthetics (pardon the term).

Only when you get into the $8+ qt bottles of RP and AMSoil are you getting the real thing.

You know not all Amsoil are full synthetic, right?

neither are all royal purple. but I'm sure he's talking signature series. which is = in prie to lower end non full syn royal purple.

Why would I be kidding? GTL basestocks have proven to have a volatility over PAO.

i like qsud but the price is slowly creeping up and super tech is great stuff also. I use super tech in almost all the engines we rebuild requiring synthetic and it works fantastic.

Agreed!!!
I'm converting over to it as I got enough for a few oci. Hearing all this talk about what is better or more syntheticy is crazy talk. I used "a real synthetic" in redline oil. It got me to 300,000 just yesterday, now I'm content on QSUD or M1 till it dies. I think of all the oils on here that QSUD is probably the best oil for price, performance and availability.

The word Corvette and the word cheap, do not share the same sidewalk on the same same street corner. That's because the word Oxymoron occupies it.
