I have a 55,000 BTU Reddy Heater about 10 years old. The manual states; Use only kerosene or #1 fuel oil, heavier #2 fuel will clog the nozzle.

Would the new ultra low sulfur diesel fuels be safe to use in this heater?

I have one of those types as well. Mines forced air with kerosene as fuel. Since I've owned it(5 years) I've never used kerosene, just diesel. It still works great,no issues running diesel so far and over the winter it gets fired up daily to thaw the forklift and heat the coffee shack

Yes, mine is a forced air torpedo style as well.

No, the flashpoint of #2 fuel is the same as it ever was. Some of the aromatics have been opened up to get the sulfur out, but it isnt more cracked. The volatility and rough molecular weight distribution is the same.

It is not a drop in fuel.

I haven't used a kerosene heater in several years, but we used to use #1 diesel.

Thoughts on a 50/50 mix of kleen heat kerosene substitute (sold at Home Depot) and ulsd for a Kerosun wick style heater.
