I don't have a real oil filter cutter, so I tried a bunch of things to get it open, from using a fake dremel I got from harbor freight, to banging it open, until I was able to pry the bottom part off.

That is why the filter doesn't quite look as it should. But, don't worry, the integrity was there, s it's not like it's an OCOD wannabe or anything. Note that the spring is out of place ONLY because of the issues cutting it open.

The red thing was still very pliable and soft.

Filter media unraveled below. NOTE: I had trouble unrolling it due to the trouble cutting it. The cartridge was all bent out of shape, so I had to rip it off.

Looks like it held up well for 10k miles. Can't go wrong with P1. BTW, cool username.

Good one!

Looks as though it held up for the 10k oci. I take it you satisfied with the P1, if not the dissection presentation.

Those harbor freight dremels are more like children's toys! I couldn't even use it for very light duty cutting. Can't imagine it would barely make a scratch on the oil filter.

Yeah it seems to be a great filter! I just wish the Synthetic PSL14459 was more widely available and included with oil change specials!

The car now has a brand new PL14459 and will be run for another 10k!
