The transfer case in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee requires the following spec'ed fluid:

ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12, such as Shell ATF 3403/M-115, Fuchs/Shell ATF 3353

Does anyone have any recommendations of an easy to find fluid that meets those specs? I'm in Canada by the way.

Thanks!

You can probably find the MB fluids at the dealer. It's going to cost you though.

I could find this, but I don't know if they ship to Canada. I can't find anything equivalent on Amazon.ca.

Now this price is just crazy (more than $23 US for a quart):

OK - found this (backwards compatible to 236.12):

But you'd have to order at least 5 4L jugs and pick it up in person.

I'm sure some of the "Universal" synthetics in the US meet it. The one I sell, made in Tulsa covers
Mercedes Benz 236.1, 236.2, 236.3, 236.5, 236.6, 236.7, 236.9, 236.10, 236.11, 236.12, 236.14

That is what I sell to the Jeep dealer network here (and MB dealer)

BTW, 236.15 is different.

Based on the specs listed for the Fuchs 4134 and the Shell 3403 & 3353 I would absolutely give Valvoline Maxlife ATF a try. That aside I would use a good synthetic ATF like a Dexron VI.

You should find it in stock at Walmart (~$25/5L CDN) or NAPA.

Any ATF+4 will work well there.

MB 236.10 is the fluid for their 722.6 transmission, which is ATF+4. In fact, that same tranny is used in the Chrysler LX cars (which call for ATF+4).

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I visited numerous car places (Canadian Tire, Parts Source, WalMart, NAPA) and none had any of those fluids.

So, I ended up caving in and going to the dealer. Bought 1 QT of Mopar MB 236.12/236.14 fluid for 23.55$

Really, none of them carry ATF+4? I'm pretty sure Walmart and NAPA carry it, duuno about Canadian Tire since they don't have any down here :p

I'm amazed by this because Valvoline Canada lists both Walmart and NAPA as retailers. I've been to six different Walmarts in my area and every one has had stock of the 5L Maxlife Dex/Merc. Picked up some this year for $25+tax.

This makes me sad. Sorry to hear about your luck.

Go to lubesource.ca if you are in the GTA.

I have bought from them several times before Shell ATF134 (MB 236.14 approved which is backward compatible for 236.12 / 236.10) under $7.00 CAD a bottle minimum purchase a case (bottles of 12).

Petro-Canada DuraDrive MV synthetic ATF is the product that is recommended for your application. Should be able to find in Canada.

I believe MB236.41 might be a hybrid vehicle.
