Tried it in my !Echo! last fall; low temp (20F) startup valve clatter was unbearable to the point where I drained it.

Great summer oil however.

I use it in the Cummins in my boat, that's about it.

Never noticed a difference between the big brands of 15w40 ie Rotella, Delvac, or Delo, so I buy whatever is on sale.

I ran a cycle in my f150. It seemed fine, but I am not sure it would be the best call for winter, so I switched to qs defy 10w30.

I only run delvac 1300 15w-40 in my 5.9l cummins in my truck. I'm thinking of switching over to the delves oil in my Kubota that calls for 10w-30. My car even with the 203k mi it still doesn't really use enough oil for me to thicken it up.

I'm using Chevron Delo 15w-40 in my '71 VW Bus (7qt capacity with full flow, by-pass filters, and sump). The oil I got is the pre LE version. I have used the 15w-40 oils in many air-cooled VW's. A bit off topic but stumbled onto the Shell Rotella T 10w-30 oil here in Los Angeles' Pep Boys and am using it in a new friends stock '74 Karman Ghia 'vert that has used Pennzoil yellow bottle (PS: thanks Shell). I also have a "beater" '74 bug which has an engine which has been documented, on previous owners repair orders, to have overheated and I use the HD oil. I am using 15w-40 in the cooler months and a straight 40wt during our So Calif summer.

I have a couple of customer/friends that own nice older VW's and I have used the 15w-40 oil in those also.

PS: These dual-rated oils are so nice to have available for the older flat tappet air-cooled cars that I own and service. Bill

Premium Blue 15-40 is used in my 3.8 GM as a make-up oil, when its the easiest thing to grab from my leftovers.

What does a Ford 460 specify in the owner's manual? Gasoline or diesel, U-Haul calls for 15w40 oil in their trucks.

A newer 460 would be 5W20, older one likely 5W30-it would use a lot less if it had 15W40 in it (at least an older, worn U-Haul motor).

I agree with Bulwinkle's post. I worked for a large gov't fleet here in So Cal and for decades had used the 15w-40 oils in everything, to include the Ford modular engines. Ford did not like this use of the heavy oils but I can say we never had an oil related issue. The last few years we were kinda "encouraged" to use the recycled fleet oils. Bill

I mix it with some HD 20w50 oil in the Harley and use it straight in my engine in the John Deere lawn tractor. Also goes in the other small engines outside.

In my 460 (Continental) I had, I ran 10w30. Did perfect.
