I do all my oil changes and have always pre-filled the filter, which typically holds 150ml after the settling of the oil.

The latest oil change involved using the same filter as always, a Hyundai factory filter, but this one held 250ml+.

Is this one defective? Should I swap it for another?

Thanks.

I think its fine, unless you see oil running out.

Not everyone thinks you should fill the oil filter. Oil that has never been through a filter gets into your engine.

sOUNDS LIKE THE MEDIA IS MORE PERMEABLE AT 1BAR THAN THE OTHERS.
Or your adbv is leaking air ... .
Q: Did you change the oil brand or grade?

I'd also be interested in what is causing the variance, I'm assuming somehow the oil is easily getting past the media to the area between the filter element and the metal can?

I was going to say the same thing.

Perhaps the Filter Media has a tear exposing the car area.
I have seen that b4.

Same oil and filter combo as before.
