Are the vacuums at gas stations generally powerful? I moved into an apartment with no outside outlets so I cannot use my own vac to clean my car. Tried one at the local Shell station and it was insanely weak. Is it worth trying another?

Usually the ones near me have worked well enough. Maybe you had one that was clogged or the bag was full?

They are generally very powerful, but when people use them to vacuum up a pound of stale fries and other rotting food from in their cars, they often get clogged and the suction becomes weak. Some are also pretty smelly.

Well maintained ones are better than anything you will use at home though.

Down here, drive through brush car washes with vacuums are common (for example the "Goo Goo Express Wash" chain). The vacuums at these places are the best I have found. They run all the time and I've only run into a clogged one once.

Best way, IMHO, is to 1st use a compressor to blow all the crud (Gosh, I surely HOPE "crud" is not a CENSORED word!) out from underneath the seats and out of the carpet pile...

Then, ShopVac it!

Cheers!
