and something which has current reviews! Lot of the name brand tools are now made overseas, so the previous stellar brand name reputation is no longer completely relevant.

Matco

I like my Kleins for the plier type tool but the Matco has held up to years of daily installation work

I have some old German ones from my elderly friend and they work incredibly well. Not sure of the brand though, but if you are interested I can look it up.

How old are your Irwins? The one on Amazon has good earlier reviews but reviews in 2013 are bad.

The Klein referenced here is not "automatic"; I don't want to select the correct sized hole (sorry!)

I used to have a plastic el cheapo version and it worked great for few years but eventually it stopped working and now I have lost it.

That "as seen on TV" thing looks promising and if it really works as it is shown in the demo, then I am sold! But I suspect I am going to be extremely disappointed.
