I do not know a lot about this car other than that it had most of it services done at dealerships or Saab specialists. One time there is a 20,000 mile gap in oil changes, not sure if they really want that far or if they simply had no record of one in between there. One other time they went 15,000 miles. The GM monitor is suppose to max out at 10,000 miles I think.

This oil had at most 2,653 miles on it this time, possibly only 2,200, not sure if the dealership changed the oil again as the owner had just had a service done before trading it in, which I have records on that change.

I put in the good stuff, Mobil 1 0w40.

Silicon was a bit high, but that dust storm came up while I was changing the oil, so some might have gotten in the sample that way, plus I changed the engine air filter 2 weeks ago.

Viscosity was weak, but that may be down to the trace of fuel.

Any idea what oil was used?

Not a beautiful report for so few miles, but for not knowing the history nor the oil, it feels comforting that the engines seems in "ok," shape. We shall see how it does with some of my Mobil 1 0w40 runs.

Not sure what oil that is, but the analysis doesn't look too bad for a turbo car with 70k on the clock.

I know some dealers use dino - they change the oil upon taking the car in -

If Dealer or Saab Specialist, then more than likely it was 0W40 M1 before- this oil change.

Thanks!!!

Yes, good point. Of course, the package looked decent, so I don't think 2,653 on that oil would have been any issue. It seemed like 5w30, probably thin for my liking but again it wasn't extended use.

Oddly, the Saab specialist right before the dealer (if the dealer even changed it again) used a 5w30 Synthetic according to the records, no idea what the oil was though.

Before that, it was Saab dealerships, so hopefully M1 0w40 was used those times, as even those long OCIs I would feel better about on Mobil 1 0w40.

The 20 PPM Moly seemed odd as I'm not sure I have ever seen an oil that contained Moly with so little. I thought perhaps it was left over from a previous Mobil 1 fill.

I don't want to bring my thread back up, but I wanted to ask advice.

Oil Monitor has 65 percent left, which I imagine could mean up to 6,500 miles.

With the Mobil 1 0w40 now in it, should I go ahead and run out the remaining OLM, which means up to 6,500 on this new oil? Or is that too long of a run if I'm hoping to "clean out," any neglected maintenance?

Thanks!
