Here is a list of additive ppm for Valvoline oils.
This was taken from their product data sheet.

TBN and Calcium is higher in Max Life; which also has moly.
No other type has Moly, not even the racing oil.
Synpower 5w-40 HST has the highest amount of Calcium.

This is true. Synpower has a low starting TBN as do most Valvoline oils.

Thank you for putting this together.

Super Tech in the SN version looks better than these. Here are the latest SN PDS's for ST SN in 10W-30 and 10W-40.

If the data is correct, then the additive level and TBN of ILSAC SynPower is identical to MaxLife. Does that means the only difference is the synthetic vs a blend base stock?

Also MaxLife Syn actually has more moly, less calcium, and lower TBN. That means MaxLife Syn is actually a better oil (if viscosity is right) than SynPower.

The lower TBN does not mean that it is not a better oil. The base stock on the full syn is better even though it has a lower starting TBN, the TBN retention is/should be better. TBN retention is not linear. The same situation with the new Mobil Super. Mobil super conventional has a TBN of ~7.7 and the new Super Syn has a TBN of ~7.0. The Super Syn is guarenteed to 7500 where as the convention is only guarenteed to 5000 miles. Better base stocks makes up for the TBN.

I recently saw a 5w20 SN Synpower UOA on another forum and it had no moly, which is a change. Still Na for a detergent.

So basically their add packs are the same across the board, just be basestock changes?
They must have some organic adds that we can't see mixed in there somewhere. These add packs look weak other than the VR-1 but they seem to put out good uoa, unless you don't need a strong additive package?
