My walmart was selling chain saw bar oil for $0.50 more than wal mart brand transmission fluid. does that make sense???

not when you could use used trans fluid as chain oil. Because I would not use used bar oil as trans fluid.

Let me tell a you little secret about chain and bar oil.
When the blenders flush their pipes after changing over from one production run of oil to another, that flush oil is not wasted.
It comes a bar and chain oil.
That oil is given some Anti-wear agents and tackifier additives and it becomes, wolla, B&C oil.
Now due to base oil prices going up, I am not suprised to see an increase in any formulated oil.

I usually just use sae250 gear oil.
Its like motor honey its so sticky.
Then again I swap out my piulans yearly at the local Lowes. If anything on them fails they will replace the whole saw.

I use used motor oil as bar and chain oil. I figure at the price of bar and chain oils, it cheaper in the long run to replace both bar and chain rather than keep one alive with expensive oil.
