looking at the msds, the PETROLEUM DISTILLATES
HYDROTREATED HEAVY PARAFFINIC is the same stuff that's in lucas's oil stabilizer, which breaks down to residual oil.

So if I'm reading the xl-17 msds right, it's basically a darkened/graphited lucas oil stabilizer. Uh oh spaghetti-o!!

I must be tired tonight. Soot creates more wear but sometimes less, and you may benefit from adding some carbon to oil?
