In his cast stickies are old school, we now have JS (sticky that!), so when you see some kind of abbreviation from [censored], it gets highlighted just like links do. But in this case as you hover your mouse over it the definition pops up in a call out.

As I recall, that's not an acronym. The NOACK volatility test was named for the scientist who came up with it. The acronym or abbreviation as it were would be ASTM D-5800, and the definition would be NOACK. wink

I bought Castrol Syntec.....not Edge or any other. Does this justify an acronym. Castrol told me that it doesn't meet GM4718M and is not the same product as any Edge product.

In the Blog, I found Castrol's response to a question posed to them as follows.....
"Before the most recent industry upgrade (ILSAC GF-5/API SN), the Castrol Americas motor oil brand had two synthetic brand names – SYNTEC and EDGE. When our products upgraded to the new GF-5/SN specification, a decision was made to reduce customer confusion about the two different brand names. As the new formulations were completed, the name of Syntec was changed to Castrol EDGE with SYNTEC Power Technology (black bottle) and Castrol EDGE was changed to Castrol EDGE with Titanium FST Technology (gold bold). So the old brand name SYNTEC is closer to Castrol EDGE with SYNTEC Power Technology; but the current product has been upgraded to meet the new, improved industry specifications."

They told me that the black bottles of Syntec that I have are not Edge. Confusion reigns.

Come to the Walmart in Rochdale, and you can have the old Edge with the old labelling in SM/GF-4 for $14 a litre, with complimentary dust on the bottles. wink

Actually, TDI stands for Turbocharged Direct Injection.
