My friends car is the 2007 328i, specification is BMW 5w30 or 15w40 motor oil. I'm looking into Mobil 1 0w40 syn euro, Rotella 5w40 T6, or AMS 5w40 euro. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks all

Mobil 1 0w-40 all year round. Its cheap, its awesome

If that were my car, i would get 5qts of Mobil 1 0w-40 and the rest would be Mobil 1 0w-30. Making it a really thin 0w-40.

Cheapest is M1 0W40 in 5-qt jug at Walmart for $22.xx.

Wally seems to get it right for sure. Thanks for the input guys. I've heard that the M1 5w40 is a great oil

It's actually the M1 0W-40 that is so good, not 5W-40.

The BMW oil is pretty good, but it's hard to justify spending the extra cash as opposed to getting the off-the-shelf stuff that's on sale.

And even M1 SN 0W-40 is heavier than necessary for the 328i, it's just the cheapest available LL-01 oil.

As others have said, the cheapest LL-01 oil you can find. The car spec's an LL-01 fluid. So M1 0w-40, PU 5w-40, BMW 5w-30, GC 0w-30 or BC 0w-40....etc

I have CC and Tiguan, and both use GC 0W30.
If I had bimmer, it would be same decision!

Yet mine did, go figure, LOL!

I've never seen the GC, good stuff you all say? A 30 weight is probably just fine. I'll pull the spec charts

Don't bother looking at Castrol spec sheets. They are fairly useless. GC itself, on the other hand, is a great product.
