His profile reads him as member #2. Who was member #1?

Probably the board's administrator account.

His name is Bob Winters. Lives in Jacksonville. I had lunch with him one day about 5-6 years ago...very nice guy. If he's since passed away, I am saddened.

Here's user #1 ... doesn't exist.

Also: I humbly retract my statement about synthetic filters being "nonsense". I should have done more research.

It's not by much. Example is the Purolator synthetic compared to the PureOne.

Synthetic = 99% @25 microns.
http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/products/oil_filters/Pages/SyntheticOilFilters.aspx

PureOne = 99.9 % @ 20 microns.
http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/products/oil_filters/Pages/pureoneoilfilters.aspx

IMO, not enough difference to worry about.

Interestingly, the 14610 and 14612 versions of the Purolator Synthetic line are rated at 99% at 25 microns just like the rest of the line, while the P1 versions are 99.9% at 40 microns.
