Since lubricants for guns are a bit of a mystery add pack and base oil wise to most of us I was thinking about running some VOAs to see what their make up is.

But i have many questions that need to be answered before I even contemplate starting this endeavor.

1. What additive packs would I ask the Lab to look for?
2. What tests should be run/skip?
3. What Lab might even be set up for doing something like this?
4. What else did I miss?

I was thinking of starting with Slip 2000 EWL, Frog Lube & Break Free CLP.

Am I wasting my time with something like this?
Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm going to fathom many of the ones you mentioned are probably one-in-same. I think a waste of your dollars but I'd sure love to see the reports

You should take a look at the MSDS for them. That might save you some time and money.

The MSDS has not been very helpful on many of these lubes.

Example: Frog Lube MSDS

They listed almost everything as N/A

I had a VOA done on Weapon Shield a few years ago and it was nice to see.

One thing to add to a standard VOA is a test for chlorine, which is a common add in many gun oils, but not automotive lubricants.
