my '02 protege5 has had an oil consumption problem for ages. i was burning about 1/2 a quart every 1000kms.. so i came across ARX and bought a couple bottles.
I added in 7oz of the stuff into fresh 10w30 dino oil and filter, and drove for about 2800kms.. during this cleaning cycle my consumption got alot worse, I was going through almost 1 quart per week! I got a bit worried but did some resarching and reading, and read that the oil consumption can often get worse before it gets better.. once the sludge is pulled away from the seals, more oil can blow by until the seal is completely recondidtioned and swells back to it's spec'd size.
so last week i dumped the oil with arx, and the filter, put some fresh stuff in, and a week later and my oil is still completely full!
so far so good! engine runs much smoother, my fuel economy has gone up a bit. good stuff!
