I have a 02 Galant that i want to do a coolant flush to. I know it uses the conventional green colored Antifreeze/coolant. Correct me if im wrong on how to do a coolant flush.

1. Drain old coolant.
2. Add coolant flush cleaner (prestone)
3. Add distilled water u til full.
3. Run car for about 10-15 min
4. Turn heater to hot and air blow to fast
5. Let it cool for 10-15 min
6. Drain whats inside the cooling system
7. If kt looks still a bit dirty add more distilled watter and run once again same process as 3
8. Drain again.
9. If clean, fill with new green coolant(Supertech, Prestone, Peak, Advance Auto Parts Brand.
10. Run car to make sure all air gets out.
11. Fill tank where its suppose to.

My real conxern is how much coolant to add, because there will still be some distilled water on the block. Since tbis is a 4 cylinder should i just use the whole gallon of coolant. (I wont use 50/50) or can i? But wouldnt it be more water than coolant? Im sorta confused when it comes how much yo add afyer the flush. Tbis would be my first time doing aflush by the way!

The Mitsubishi Galant DOES NOT USE conventional green coolant. It uses non-silicate coolant that is dyed green! Get Zerex Asian Vehicle, Beck/Arnley Asian, or get Mitsubishi OEM coolant.

Don't put regular green in there or it will destroy the water pump! This happened to my mother once and my father once!

+++ also ford specialty formula green or hyundai from the dealers. These are P-HOAT formulas. Both the Ford and the Hyundai are dyed green.

Having said that, I have two Mitsubishi made 4 banger an 03 and an 04 that I have been using HOAT formula (G-05 made my xerex) for many years. Its very close to the Asian formulas and is acceptable. Chyrsler and motorcraft also make G-05 mixes HOAT

Interesting, I used zerex g-05 in mind and haven't had any issues.

I'm thinking the people that have problems are probably the ones that don't perform regular maintenance.

My father changed all green coolants yearly.
That still resulted in failed water pumps.
