I was on vacation in Chicago and at a larger dollar store, something catch my attention.
Coming up closer, I witness a nightmare.
It’s a shelf of some non-certified and obsolete motor oil and ATF.
Let’s see what favor is available:
(I also have links to PQIA if you like to read futher into these oils)
Star ATF and Star 10W-30 motor oil. It’s the High Mileage Version so it should be good right? No.

Anyone needs some Type-A Fluid?
Pinnacle Platinum Premium 10W40 Motor Oil. The label quality must be better than the oil.

Here’s a Star City 10W40 and Everclear 10W-30 motor oil

Some more star 10w40
Spire 10W-40 motor oil. Don’t mind the leak.
http://www.imakenews.com/lng/e_article002279901.cfm (A read on the API suing the the maker of Spire)
Some close up with personal protection better the oil can provide in an engine. Kitchen mittens FTW.
Super XXX ATF and 10w30

Here’s everyone’s favorite, U.S. economy 5-30

How about a closer look.“5-30 means the viscosity range from 5 to 30.” Lol, that’s very informative.
Still rocking the kitchen mitten.
Liberty Gold Plus ATF: Great for killing that transmission of yours.

At a busy gas station:
TruStarATF: Prefect if you use TYPE-A.
http://www.pqiamerica.com/July 2012 ATF/TruStar ATF.htm
Black Knight 10-40 motor oil. Not 10W-40 but 10-40. I research this brand it appeared it was formally TruStar. Same old junk.
http://www.pqiamerica.com/June2012/trustar.htm
Some Orbit 5w30. A SB service oil, Great if you have something form the 30’s.
Pick your poison
All this Motor oil and ATF fail to meet any standard set by the API. What’s sad is that people are buying these motor oils for their 90’s and newer Ford and Honda unknowingly damaging their engines. To most, oil is just oil and will never know the different between SC and SN oil. Also, shaking these bottle gives off the "like water" feel. Furthermore, for the same price ($2.99) or cheaper, they could have got some Formula Shell, Super Tech, or Mobil Special that are SN and API certified from local store such as Menards, Target, etc.
Just thought it would be fun to share this since I never seen them in Texas.
