I have the Kohler oil filter number # 25-050-25-S, What does that filter cross to in a Motorcraft if it does at all?
The Kohler filters are rather high and I would suspect the MC filters would be better quality at 1/2 the price.
Also, it looks like the transmission (a hydro) is cast into the axle housing, What kind of fluid does it use and are the drain and fills easy enough?
Mower is a Cob Cadet LT 1042
Thanks,
Dustin

Thats a pretty standard filter. You can use a FL910S which would likely be slightly longer than the Kohler filter, or a FL400S which is even longer. Im currently using the latter on a B&S myself.

The transmission depends. Can you find any manufacturer markings on it?

Colt, the 400s and the 910 have the same bypass settings and thread style?
The 400s is CHEAP, I have a few for my Zx2, I will try it and see.
The book says the trans is a Hydro-gear-0510

This is a single cylinder Courage I presume?

The way the filter is tucked-up against the block on the Courage singles, I don't recall if a Motorcraft FL400 will fit or not?

I know they fit perfectly on the Courage V-twins.

Yes, this particular Kohler has uddles of room for a Fl-400s. I just don't want issues with the bypass not being right and damaging the motor.

NAPA Gold
