My second UOA on the Focus. This was with a Pure One filter. I replaced the oil with PP 5W20 and a K&N filter (from March's AAP deal). I plan to run that to 8k OCI as well so to have a direct comparison. If PP's TBN is higher after 8k, I suspect I'd run SynBlend to 8k and synthetic to 10k for the life of the car.

Silicone may still be high because I changed the MC air filter a few months ago?

So what do you think, should I have stretched this oil to Ford's 10k OCI recommendation?

Code:

If silicon improves by just 6 ppm every time, it'll take a while to get silicon down to

average, but hey, as long as it's going the right direction we can't complain too much.

Other metals are pretty steady. Aluminum and iron each went up by a few ppm, but neither

increase was so large that we think a problem is at hand. The longer oil run might account

for at least some of the increases. The TBN is a little lower, though that's no surprise on

a longer run. It should drop more slowly from here on out, but it's still good at 1.9.

Overall, not bad at all.

Why did you change the MC air filter out so soon, appears the new air filter is not sealing properly. Im sure some of the experts on uoa's will chime in which I am not. Silicon is what will be flagged.

This has more fuel than the other focus DI reports that I have seen onthis site.

What other reports? There's only two others I've seen and one of 'em was mine. All 3 say <0.5% fuel.

But of course!

Silicon is likely due to the engine being new and still breaking in.

This is still break in wear, and frankly it's not bad at all for such a young engine. The Si is likely sealers that are continuing to "dry up" (so to speak ...)

Can easily do 10k miles.

I'm replying to this old thread because I didn't want to start a new thread for a Ford factory fill. Changed out this oil early so I could start my experiment with 80% Redline 5W-20, 20% Redline 10W race oil. I'll start a new thread when that analysis comes back in a few months.

RJ - your #'s look great for a FF. Why the switch to mixed Redline? Are you trying to use up some old oil stash?

I just like to experiment. If I post some data that someone else finds useful, then I'm happy.
