Sleepers

There's a difference between factory sleepers and cars that are MADE to be sleepers...taking a boring/sedate looking car and modifying it to be a lot more powerful MAKES it a sleeper...

For me personally, the factory sleepers are the ones that are more interesting...
SHO, Regal GS come to mind... Mazda MX6? idk about that one..
Acura Legends with the GS-II were certainly 'quick' for a non-sport car too...
Lexus SC300?

I've owned a bunch. It's an appealing vehicle...cops don't notice them.

Acura Integra GS-R
Mazdaspeed3
Audi S4 (owned two)

The R cars could be considered sleepers. People look and assume generic Volvo. Even with the 18" wheels and factory body kit they still don't stand out that much.

Couple of my buddies have had sho taurus's. They had the 2nd gen versions. 5 spd and auto. They were fun cars. Yamaha engines, and the 5 spd versions were the quicker of the two even with the 3.0 engine compared to the 3.2 with automatic trans. The 3rd gens were ugly and slow with the 8 cyl engine.

Quicker than an SHO. Quicker than a BMW M5 from that time period

and if you ever drove a 2.5 Spirit, you would know why that is a sleeper

Yup, 227HP in a car that looks completely nondescript.

The wiki mentions it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Spirit

Though, I found this rather funny:

LOL!

Now of course Mexico is part of North America, but I'm sure others can appreciate the humour in this

So enlighten us.

For some reason I've always been a fan of old Skylarks. I'd love to get a '68 or similar body style Skylark and gut it. Put in the newest technology without changing anything to the exterior to make the ultimate sleeper.

I love sleepers. Really can make people think when you dust them. My SHO would qualify except the wife made me get Candy Apple Red so sleeper isn't something that applies.

An SHO is not a sleeper. A 1991 taurus gl with hubcaps bad paint and an SHO motor might be a sleeper...

A 1975 4 door nova, with dog dish hubcaps, 250 emblems and faded paint (preferably pastel blue or green) sporting a big block (with HUGE hidden mufflers) and a 300 shot of n2o might be a sleeper.

Hint if it has got spoilers, red moldings and fancy wheels a sleeper it is not.

M3, M5, S4 as sleepers

This gave me an idea on making this a fair contest. 2 categories:
1. Cars that left the factory as a sleeper.
2. Cars that someone modified to make a sleeper.
3. Some sort of combo of the 2.

Too loud and the slicks with the beads screwed to the rim are sort of a giveaway...

But cool...
