Except that the description of that Assenmacher tool says it's 74.5mm, while Patman and others reported that it needs to be 76mm.

Some TDI guys go 20 to 25k miles on that filter/ o-ring combo, not that I'm suggesting it. Just an FYI.

When you do remove it, there is a spot on the groove where you can get the head of a small screwdriver (or similar tool) behind the o-ring and easily flip it out.

Convoluted wording, but easy enough when you look at it.


As long as it does not leak, I have no intention of removing it, as a little bit of oil does come out when removing the filter housing (it's not inverted), so there is no need for me to waste that good oil.
