When I was younger my uncle owned a tire store and a full service gas station. (About a 1/4 mile apart from each other) I would work in which ever one he needed me at, between my full time job, petro pipefitter/shutdowns and turnarounds.
When doing tire work he issued us Milton pencil type air gauges. I still own one.

Anyway, can someone recommend a decent digital air gauge, under $10?

However, I believe a quality analog gauge can actually be more accurate. Nothing under $10 though.

I have 3 of those. They work great. I think I paid $4.99 though.

I have my checkbook out now. Give me the details.

I bought a Slime digital gauge several years ago. It still works and seems to accurate when I check it against other gauges. Paid 8 or 9 bucks at an auto part store.

Under $10 gauges are likely all made in the same factory, whether Slime, Accutire, etc....
I have one just to have a 1x1 comparison with the $5 stick gauge I got at Harbor Freight.

I have this analog guy. IDK how accurate it is but it is repeatable. The nice thing about this gauge is it bleeds very little air. The digital ones seem to have a hard or poorly fitting rubber o ring or whatever in there and one has to get it on "just right".

Accuracy (validity) isn't as important as precision (reliability/repeatability/consistency) as long as you know if it is "off" and if so, by how much.
I've read that digital gauges "bleed" but the one I got doesn't...could be user failure.

My cousin has one similar to that. I tried his then mine. Mine read almost 36 psi. His read exactly 37 psi. Mine is 26 years old. His is about 1 year old.
Here is a pic of what I own;

I have a Craftsman that I like. It takes 2 button batteries that are expensive except at Walmart or HF.

If you go analog, the best for your car might be a 0-40 or 0-50, not a 0-100. You want the anticipated pressure to be at least 50% of the scale. Which may mean you have a few gauges.

An older lady was filling her tires at a Stewarts (like 7-11) with her husband watching. I asked her if she wanted to borrow my gauge as I knew the one on the hose was beat. She said no thanks and showed me a newer and better Craftsman digital gauge than I had.

I've had the Accutire gauge for 8 or more years, and while it seems accurate and consistent, I'd agree that it bleeds air unless it's put on just right. I like the looks of that Victor one-easy to read and harder to lose than the pencil type. I've misplaced a whole bunch of those over the years.

The Accutire is what I have and recommend. I started out
with 3 of the ones that are identical to the MS4021B except
they have the unlit digital readout, which made it a little
bit of a challenge at night. I bought the first two about
16 or 17 years ago from Sears for $4.99 each on sale at
Christmas time. They both still work perfectly, and on the
original battery. One of them was used almost everyday for
about 7 years when I could still work as an auto mechanic.
The next Christmas I bought 10 more to give out as Christmas
gifts and kept one for myself so both my cars would have one.
A few years later I bought the actual MS4021B with the red-lit
digital readout which I now keep in the Town Car. I've received
one or two other styles of Accutire tire gauges as gifts. They
all work perfectly, but the MS4021B ergonomics is superior, at
least it is for me.

I've checked them periodically against other known good gauges
and against themselves and they are always dead on accurate, and
they always work.

Google Accutire and you'll find the Accutire website and plenty
of places that sell Accutire gauges.

Get the Accutire MS4021B and you”ll be happy. One and done.

Yeah, me either. It's only 5 months later but I will forgive you when it arrives.
