Do you think using a slightly thicker oil will help the Auto-RX process. I think the theory goes that thicker oil will cause more friction and thereby scrub better. My Subaru calls for 5w30 normaly but I was wondering about using 10w40. Just a thought.

Actually, thinner is better. It will allow the A-RX to "splash" everywhere and clean. Also, when rinsing, the thinner oil will remove more contaminants.

OOobw,

Thicker oil will not make any difference in the Auto-Rx cleaning the instructions will inform you to use what ever oil you have in your engine.

For the rinsing phase you should use non synthetic oil good luck

Flow certainly has an impact on where it cleans. Look along the right edge here compared to the rest of the head.

So you want the max "slinger" effect that you can muster ..or so I reason
