This is the latest UOA from our New Holland LM435a telehandler with a 4-cylinder Iveco engine. Using Service Pro 15w-40. This oil has been in service since October of 2011. Using a Fleetguard LF16015 stratapore filter. The first two OA I changed the oil but only drew a sample on the latest one. OEM recommendation is 600 hour OCI. Probably put another 500 hours on and draw another sample.

Hi OP,

Am I reading correctly that this oil has 1217 hrs on it thus far? What is the oil capacity on this unit?

Thanks,

In our telescopic fork truck(I call it a forklift however it's got a 50 foot boom). Our has a cat diesel. We are instructed to change it every 500 hours and send a sample of the oil to Kramer tractor to maintain our warranty.
The fact that you are doubling our hours makes me question our service requirements and should we also be extending our service interval, once our warranty expires.
Thanks for posting.

Yeah, 1217 hours on the oil. Its been since October 2011 since I've changed it but I think it only takes like 2 or 3 gallons.

Excellent showing from Service-Pro; no surprise given the results you've seen elsewhere.

OCI extension is completely correct here; no reason to dump this; LOTS of life left in it. Look how well the properties are in controll; soot, vis, TBN, fuel all well in line. Another 500 hours is a no brainer; sample then and likely go further!

What would be your condemnation limits for this rig? Have you given that any contemplation?

Condemnation limits?

Iron 100
Copp 20
Lead 30
Chrm 15

Fuel 5%
Soot 5%
Visc TBN 2.5

I'm guessing on this one, my TBN will reach the low point before anything else gets too high.

I would say those are reasonable.

As for the TBN, when it gets low, then you also would want to know TAN. TBN can drop precipitously, and yet TAN will often stay low, if the operation allows for good evaporation, and the fuel is ULSD (very common now). Don't presume that a low TBN means it's time to condem; get a TAN in addition to know for sure.

Given those condemnation limits, your OCI is a far distance away!

Excellent fluid performance; excellent running rig.

Really puts the "change oil often, or every year" mantra into it's real wasteful perspective, does it not?
