How does your wife like her new ride?

She loves it so far - how it drives and its equipment...

I just drove it, too, and It truly is a very nice driving car, solid and quiet but also nimble...

The steering feels a bit too light at low speeds, but then I am coming from a heavy steering wheel of the Bimmer and the Tbird...

Follow the manufacturers change interval.

This stuff about the metal shavings remaining in the engine and damaging it is nonsense, that is the job the oil filter performs so you have NO worries about this.

I believe it is true about Mazda also having an enhanced factory fill with added moly.

Mazda is pretty conservative with their OCI's.

5k or 4 months with severe service

7.5k or 6 months with regular

I have always dumped the FF early 1000-1500 miles, but for this one I might go the normal severe service of 4 months.

This is not really scientific, but I did oil changes on our Mazda 6 at 2.5K for the FF, 5K OCI for the next one, 6K OCI for the one after that, and am now on a 7.5K OCI. Like I said, not scientific and no UOAs to back it up, but it works for me and I am sure that the car is being treated well. After the powertrain warranty expires, I plan to go to 1 year or 10K miles (whichever comes first).
