Dex VI is also licensed and they still recommend that. SPIII and ATF +4 have very similar frictional properties and that's why I thought it odd they left it off. You are right that they probably want to direct people to their ATF+4.

That's pretty much it. You have to pay to license a product for ATF+4 and the end result is really only good for the ATF+3/ATF+4 spec. If you've already spent the money to get the label, you need to move enough product to make it worth while.

I myself much prefer the base and add-pack of MaxLife to any ATF+4 (except maybe Red Line).
