can't remove power steering reservoir cap

I'm trying to remove the reservoir cap on my power steering to check the level and it won't come off. It just turns easily about 1/4 turn and then stops. Anyone know how it comes off? It's amazing how something so simple has to be difficult.

Have you tried pushing it in or pulling it out after the 1/4 turn? Maybe there is a catch you need to get by.

Yup, either it has an O-ring and you need to pull up, or there's a detent you have to push down to get past prior to pulling up.

It doesn't tell you little things like that in the owners manual. In fact american vehicles never say anything about power steering fluid.
