I think the only difference is the recessed base plate.
They are both exactly the same in every other way.
Infact most parts store filter lookups list the 1356 for my car, but in actuality, its suppose to be the 7356. I have used both with no problems on my Honda.

This is a rehash of a prev LONG thread comparing these filters. Ive done extensive in-situ testing of these filters. Use ONLY the 57356 in a Honda, Nissan or Subaru or Hyundai application. This unit has the Si adbv now and the inlet holes are small engineered intentionally to avoid distorting/ruining the media with pressure spikes.

You should do an Advanced search; most everything has been discussed to death.

I won't be taking that advice. I'll be using a Napa Gold 1356 on either an Accord or a Civic in the future with no worries. Biggest negative as I see it is the space the base end bypass takes inside the can, but beyond that the (5)1356 is what has been spec'd for Hondas for years. Perhaps there's been some change in very new model Hondas that I'm not aware of, but when I purchased NG the 1356 was the spec'd application.

Also, don't know if Wix has now decided to go to silicone adbv on the 57356, but I won't pay the same or more for a Wix/NG filter with nitrile adbv. Now, if there was a car warranty issue to consider I'd switch brands as Purolator and Fram still have the same filter applications they've had for Honda applications. Just me.

As shown here with just limited replies, members have used the (5)1356 on Hondas for some time with no issues.

I have been using Wix/NAPA 1357 on my two cars, a 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 and a 2000 Honda Accord I-4, since 2007 without a problem, as sayjac mentioned.

In December, the wife purchased a 2013 Accord, 3.5 V-6, and I sold the 2000 Accord.

All was well in my life until I read that Wix had changed the recommendation to the newer/updated filter.

I emailed Wix, and less than 24 hours later, I received this reply:

Question: Why was 51356 replaced by 57356? Can I still use 51356 on my 2013 Honda Accord 3.6 V6?

Would I be able to return the 51356 to my place of purchase to obtain the newer 57356?

Answer:
"57356 has a more recessed baseplate and will allow more thread engagement and a better gasket seal , If you use the 51356 on your application it will be your choice but WIX will no longer
Warranty that option. As a matter of fact the interchange from 51356 to 57356 was done at the end of 2011 so we never offered the 51356 for the 2013 Honda Accord models but only 57356.
The 51356 will remain because it is recommended for other applications. As I stated above, if you use the 51356 on your 2013 Honda Accord it will be your choice but WIX does not recommend".

I returned my stash of 6 1356 filters, and with no hassle, received the 57356.

Easy choice for me to make, as warranty is a factor.

Just my two cents worth, the 57356 will be a good choice if you use the filter on Yamaha outboards the nut on the mount strikes the base plate on the 51356 and will not allow the gasket a good contact.

Interesting explanation - this goes to prove that using a filter that is not the recommended one, can become a major warranty matter (none from OEM obviously, none from filter maker).
