Castrol Edge 5w30 in Toyota 1AZ-FE

Hi

What do you think about using Castrol Edge 5w30 (SL/A3) in a 1AZ-FE Rav4 engine? This oil has an HTHS of 3.6. I know it's thicker than required but maybe overall it's a better choice than dino for my application. The only reason I ask is the local shop has some on sale for a fantastic price, about the same price as dino. I plan to do short trips and want to do 1 year OCI. It will only do 3-5k miles in a year.

Are you talking about Supercheap Auto's 40% off supercity? Yeah that's a killer price on a good oil. I picked up a stash yesterday too. It's the Edge 5W30 A3/B4 FST right. I just started my first run on this oil about 6 weeks ago (got it 20% off at the time).

I changed out an A1/dexos1/ILSAC GF5 oil (HTHS 2.9) for this Edge (HTHS 3.6) and haven't had any measurable change in fuel consumption. This oil has been performing great.

Is the oil thicker the the 30 weight it's sold as and ok for HM motored?
