SnapOn compression guage MT308KB

bought used on e.bay got it today and the guage wont move off zero when testing my tecomseh 5hp snow king..I thought these were simple to use screw in the hose, couple it and turn the engine over..am I missing something?

If I blow in the end while holdong the release valve open the air is moving to that point ..but by mouth or piston I cant get the needle to budge?

Also little bicycle type air valves were installed on the hoses...don't work with or without them anyway..

thoughts?

See if a snap on dealer will warranty it

I'd doubt it..looks to be older, made in Kenosha, WI.

well it worked on my sons car engine! the 5hp snowking must have a decompression feature? anyway..

What is the proper way to measure compression..hot or cold engine?
