that's because Amsoil didn't pay the bribe to VW to get it approved. Ditto with their AFL oil

VW 507 oil has lower SAPS than what API CJ-4 allows.
That is why you shouldn't use something other than VW 507 in this engine.

NAPA is now selling the Mobil 1 ESP oil at a better than dealer price. They recently had it on sale for $5 a qt and I picked up 50 qts. The clerk said that the normal price will be around $8.99.
