I use brake cleaner to clean all my guns.
Much cheaper than gun-specific areosols; same result.
Make sure it dries, then lube it normally.
Been doing it for YEARS, with no adverse effects.
CAUTION - do not do so on anything that has been varnished such as wood gun furniture; it will eat that right off.
As always, test on a small area with a rag to comfirm before hosing it down with cleaner!
