This is the engine from our Gehl V270 skid steer. Used every day to clean cattle barns. Using a slightly oversize Fleetguard LF3369. Last two samples are the same oil change and still have not changed oil. Think I'll go another 500 hours and either sample or drain it then.

Fe is "creeping up" at a very reasonable, desireable rate and is no where near any reasonable condemnation level. The first three UOAs were at 250 hours, but this one was double at 500 hours, so the rate is not as exponential as first seen. Where is your condemnation for Fe? 100ppm or 150ppm as a limit?

Everything else is VERY well controlled, and I concur that 500 more hours is probably doable.

Hey - why no Service Pro? That stuff has been doing very well by you.

The first UOA I changed the oil at 250 hours. The second I changed the oil at 500 hours. The third, I took a sample after 750 hours and the fourth is the same oil as the third but after 1250 hours. My condemnation limit for Iron is 100 ppm. I wanted to switch to a CJ-4 oil and where we get our oil, the guy talked my into trying Rimula since it was virtually the same cost as Service Pro. I think it was only a few cents more or less difference per gallon. We're paing like $7 or $8 dollars a gallon so its the cheapest HD oil we can buy in bulk. Viscosity from left to right is 13.9, 13.5, 13.8, 14.4. My work computer was making it difficult to switch easily between pages.

So the oil has been in service 500 hours or 1250 hours. The way I initially read it was that this oil was in service for 1250.

Yes, the current oil has been in the service for 1250 hours. Yanmar recommends a 250 hour OCI.

doesn't make any sense. How can he have the same tbn at 250hrs and then have about the same tbn again after 1250hrs.

Well, went to 1750 hours on the same unit but this time I changed the oil and filter. Probably could have gone further yet. The reason the TBN went up from 3.2 to 4.5 is that a couple quarts of oil was added shortly before I drew the sample and changed the oil. These number are only the most recent sample. Do you think its even worth to take the next sample before I have 1500 hours on the oil?
