I bought some AC-Delco Durastop rotors for my truck. I thought they would be made in North America: Either Canada or at least Mexico. They are labeled "Made in China."

Durastop is suppose to be AC-Delco's top of the line brake part stuff. When I first got my truck I saw a lot of AC-Delco rotors for my truck for sale on ebay that were made in Canada, but I didn't need them 10 years ago, and I had no place to store them. Now I don't know if I should just get something else like Raybestos.

For what it's worth the last set of AC Delco rotors I bought were the OE grade, not the cheap ones, and they too were made in China.

Low cost steel from China + low cost labor from China is what a lot of companies want when selling brake rotors. More profit when selling the rotors.

I'm not surprised AC Delco is made in China.

Which is probably the same rotor in a different box with double the price!

Could be, but a lot of times the Motorcraft rotor is Made in China, while the OEM rotor is Made in USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Japan. We tend to refer to it as "IndoPakiChinaStan" at work.

The Advantage rotors are suppose to be the cheap ones. The Durastops cost more.

Raybestos,Centric, store brands....all made in China. Its a cost thing, otherwise Escort rotors would be $100....or so they may say.

Most all replacement rotors are now made in Mexico or China with the latest shift toward China.
A couple of years ago, it was my mission to find an American made rotor for my Dodge Dakota. I went to several stores and I finally found a rotor in a small mom-and-pop store that made in Canada. The reason that it was made in North American was because it had been sitting on the shelf for about 10 years. I bought it, but the for the next rotor I just accepted the cheapest one I could find, one that was made in China.
However, about a week ago I was shopping for two front rotors for my 2WD Aerostar. I priced them at RockAuto, but with shipping figured in, they were cheaper at O'Reillys. I purchased two of them. One rotor was about a year old and was made in China. The other rotor was just a couple of months old and it was marked that it was made in USA. I initially was happy about that, but I suspect they just installed the wheel studs in USA or maybe just installed it in the plastic bag so they could qualify it being an American-made part.
To the OP, remember that AC Delco is just a parts relabeler and won't be the same parts that GM now uses on the assembly line.

When I "threw' a set of Avalon brakes on my I4 Camry I used Centrix for everything and they are still fine after a year and a half. I had stock Brembo blanks previously with the stock calipers which finally warped but I suspect the stock I4 brakes are a bit undersized for the hard use they see around these parts. The "Avalon size" are probably what the car should have come with.

My mother's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee left the factory with rotors from Canada. They warped badly. I replaced them with Raybestos rotors from China and they didn't warp.

I hate to break your bubble but there is a lot of Chinese content in your GM truck...GM demands it from their suppliers. This has been that way for several decades.

Don't worry about where they are made, as most are simply iron.

Measure and inspect carefully for runout and then install. As long as they are within spec they'll work great.

Too many here mistake PAD problems for rotor issues. Once you learn the difference you'll save tons of money and time messing with brakes!
